Dr. Srikumar stresses that a true wellness solution lies in understanding the role of nutrition and nutrients as a form of medicine for both prevention and treatment. In the modern world, many tend to believe that medicines are the primary healers, while nutrition is overlooked. However, Dr. Srikumar points out that nutrients are the fundamental molecules necessary for creating and sustaining life. These nutrients are crucial for the countless biochemical activities that occur in our bodies constantly. Unlike medicines, most nutrients cannot be stored in the body, making it essential to acquire them daily through food, water, and air.
2. Challenges in Acquiring Vital Nutrients
The quality of air, water, and food has significantly declined due to various factors, including pollution and agricultural practices aimed at quantity over quality, thus creating a challenge on finding wellness solutions for our lives. Therefore the only way to acquiring nutrients is to chewing, digestion, absorption, and transportation into the bloodstream, eventually reaching our cells to fuel biochemical reactions that power our daily activities. An imporant part of my wellness solutions project is maintaining a balance between physical and mental health.

Dr. Srikumar distinguishes between macronutrients (carbohydrates, protein, and fat) and micronutrients (vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, phytochemicals, and herbals). While macronutrients provide energy, it is the micronutrients that enable their efficient use within our cells. Unfortunately, deficiencies in these micronutrients, and amino acids and fatty acids are still active today and it leads to stress, tension and diseases.

5. Medication and Supplements: A Daily Commitment for your Wellness Solutions
Let’s focus on my take on wellness solutions. Wellness can also mean different things to different people because everyone has different goals. I’m going to share my personal daily wellness routine and how I define wellness for myself. One thing that I do every single day is take my supplements and medication I start off every morning with my antidepressants this is a huge part of my wellness routine as it helps stabilize my anxiety and treats depression.
I’ve been on them for almost two years now and my only regret is that I didn’t inquire about them sooner personally. I let the stigma of psychiatric medications get to me so I needlessly suffered longer than I needed to but better late than never they literally saved my life and I am not ashamed of it next I take a multivitamin which includes vitamin d3 because I have a vitamin d deficiency as well as iron and b12 because those tend to get depleted while taking birth control and then I take two other supplements ashwagandha and American Ginseng. Several recent studies have shown that ashwagandha can help to improve stress and physical endurance while American Ginseng supports healthy energy levels cognitive function and working memory. I take all of these with a big old glass of water to re-hydrate my body in the morning.
6. Future App: A Personalised Fitness Companion
I started working out consistently towards the end of last year and I don’t regret it a bit it is so essential to my overall health and wellness and not only my physical wellness but my mental wellness too for the past month. I have been using an app called “future” it is so cool you get paired up with a personal trainer and they create a workout plan for you every week in my opinion this is a much better option than doing some generic one size fits all program because this personal trainer literally tailors your workouts specifically for you and your goals it syncs up to your apple watch so that your trainer can monitor your heart rate so they can tell whether you’re working too hard or not enough.
It is literally like working with a personal trainer every day except you get to choose exactly when you want to work out and it is much more affordable than traditional personal training another cool thing is that futures trainers are equipment agnostic meaning that if you don’t have access to a gym or you can only work out at home your trainer will design a custom workout plan based on your lifestyle and what you have available this is a program that I have personally really enjoyed and I will definitely continue to use it going forward it’s a fantastic app if you want to get started on your fitness journey.
7. The Impact of Physical Fitness on Mental Health
There are so many benefits to daily workouts from improved sleep improved stress and anxiety glower skin managing blood sugar improving cognitive function improving mood and mental health boosted energy and so much more exercise is definitely a huge part of my wellness solutions project. Along with exercise I have been a lot more intentional with the foods that I eat. I do track calories now just to make sure that I am eating enough food to fuel my workouts and I also track my macros because I am trying to tone up and build muscle.
8. Mindful Eating: Tracking Calories and Macros
One thing that I have learned through this process is that I do not eat nearly enough protein as I should be and I don’t eat as much fresh fruits and veggies as I should either. All of these things are essential to my own wellness goals so I just decided to get a little bit more intentional with my diet and actually track things so that I am being mindful about my overall health.
9. Addressing Posture and Physical Well-Being
Now this thing is called a cervical diner roll I got it from my chiropractor and he told me to use it every day for around 10 to 15 minutes to help correct my posture because I have something called text neck which is neck pain that’s caused by poor posture and repetitive strain to the muscles of the cervical spine.
10. Defining Wellness for Your Unique Journey
I believe that it is very important to have good health, good posture. But staying organised is another huge part of my wellness routine because it helps mitigate unnecessary stress and anxiety I have recently started time blocking my days and It is been really helpful because I get to complete every single thing that I need to that day. I even schedule in fun activities and lunches with my friends to make sure that I am living a balanced life of work and play. Before, I used to just get to the fun stuff wherever I could find time to do it, but after scheduling it in and prioritising fun I found that I am way less susceptible to burnout, and it is been working really well for me.
My wellness solutions look different for everyone.
